About Me
I am Murray Robert Cantor, a mathematician and system development expert with over 40 years of experience in the field. I earned my PhD in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. I’ve held various leadership roles throughout my career, including serving as an IBM Distinguished Engineer. My work at IBM centered on applying predictive analytics and optimization to software and systems planning and development.
I’ve always been passionate about advancing the practical applications of mathematics and analytics. Earlier in my career, I taught mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin and Duke University. I’ve enjoyed combining my academic foundation with hands-on tech industry leadership, contributing to theoretical advancements and practical innovations in systems development.
Along with Christian Smart and Glen Alleman, I am under contract with CRC Press to write Navigating the Fog, a text about mastering uncertainty in projects and programs that must succeed, to be published next year.
